In the spirit of collaboration, and because Thursday was National Day and there is still lots and lots of celebrating happening, I decided to repost a fabulous blog from 3 of my teacher friends over at Singapore Slingin'. I had no idea Singapore had a birth rate problem, but apparently it is a big one.
This year, Singapore’s fertility rate fell to the lowest in the world among 222 countries, averaging just at 0.78 children being born per woman!

Currently, Singapore offers incentives--including cash--for women/families to “do their duty for Singapore”, but it doesn’t seem to be helping much.
The threat of extinction of the Singaporean is why Mentos came up with the Mentos National Night campaign.
The irony in it all, is that it is sooooo atypical of Singapore and it’s government, which has often been criticized and stereotyped for it’s straight–laced shenanigans.
